Quick Answer: The best MOLLE panel depends on where it mounts. For 4Runner, Land Cruiser 250, Lexus GX and Forester rear windows, Rago Fabrication’s vehicle-specific steel panels are the best value (5th Gen 4Runner pair $259.99, no drilling). For a Jeep Wrangler JL or Ford Bronco, DV8 Offroad’s rear-window panels ($269.99 to $289.99) are the direct-fit pick. For any vehicle seat, the Grey Man Tactical 15.25 x 25 RMP seat back organizer ($150 with straps) installs in under a minute with no tools, and DV8’s universal steel panels ($39.99 to $99.99) are the cheapest way to add a MOLLE grid anywhere you can drill.
A MOLLE panel turns dead space into storage: the rear quarter windows of an SUV, the back of a seat, the inside of a tailgate or the walls of a truck bed. It’s where the small, important gear lives so it isn’t sliding around the cargo floor: the first aid kit, the tire repair kit, a flashlight, a radio, a shovel, recovery hardware. It also keeps that gear off the floor you need for a fridge, water and a sleeping setup.
We compared MOLLE panels using the US stores and product listings of Rago Fabrication, DV8 Offroad, Cali Raised LED, Grey Man Tactical and Bartact, their warranty and return policies, and Huron Capital’s acquisition announcement, all checked on November 6, 2026. We don’t test panels ourselves. Prices below are the makers’ own store prices on that date, including Cali Raised’s 15% “Black November” sale where it applies; we don’t link to any store.
MOLLE panels by the numbers
- 1 inch by 1.5 inches is the grid that matters. Bartact describes its MOLLE Strips as mil-spec 1-inch PALS webbing stitched at 1.5-inch intervals with a 1-inch gap between rows, and DV8 cuts its universal steel panels with matching 1.5 x 1 inch slots, which is why standard MOLLE pouches fit both.
- Only three panels in five catalogs state a load limit. Cali Raised says “Do not add more than 25lbs” on its 5th and 6th Gen 4Runner exterior window panels, and DV8 recommends 40 lb “as a guideline” for its Bronco tailgate panel. None of the other MOLLE panel listings from Rago, DV8, Cali Raised, Grey Man Tactical or Bartact give a number.
- Two of the biggest brands are siblings. Huron Capital announced on March 17, 2022 that Horsepower, the platform behind DV8 Offroad and Addictive Desert Designs, had acquired Rago Fabrication. They still price differently: $259.99 (Rago) vs $319.99 (DV8) for a 2010-2024 4Runner pair, but $299.99 vs $269.99 for the 2025+ 4Runner.
- Two makers warn against third-row seats. Rago says third-row 4Runner passengers “would be put at significant risk during an accident” with its panels installed, and DV8 says its 6th Gen 4Runner panels could affect the airbag system if the third row is used.
- Warranty runs one or two years. Rago and DV8 both list a one-year limited warranty and a 20% restocking fee on authorized returns; Cali Raised LED covers its own products for two years and charges 15% on non-defective returns.

1. Rago Fabrication MOLLE Storage Panel System — Best Rear-Window Panels
Rago Fabrication MOLLE Storage Panel System (5th Gen 4Runner shown)
- Driver and passenger panels for the 2010-2024 4Runner's rear cargo windows; Rago says installation needs no drilling or altering of the vehicle.
- Each panel has a mounting point for a Baja Designs dome light (not included); an optional MOLLE Storage Shelf ($259.99) adds a flat platform between them.
- Other fits on Rago's store: 2025+ 4Runner $299.99 (drilling and riv-nuts, 4 install points), 2024+ Land Cruiser 250 and Lexus GX 550 $249.99 (6 install points, drilling), 2019-2024 Subaru Forester $169.99, FJ Cruiser $209.99, Lexus GX 470 $199.99, 3rd Gen Tacoma rear window $199.99.
- One-year limited warranty; returns within 30 days with an RMA and a 20% restocking fee.
Rago built its business on Toyota and Lexus accessories, and its rear-window panels show why: laser-cut steel that follows the window shape, bolts to the factory points and keeps the cargo floor clear. The 5th Gen 4Runner set is the standout because it costs $60 less than DV8’s version for the same truck ($259.99 vs $319.99) and Rago says it goes in without drilling.
The fine print matters on two points. Rago says the 4Runner system was not designed for trucks with the third-row seat and that third-row passengers would be at significant risk in an accident, so this is a two-row-only upgrade. And the newer platforms are more work: the 2025+ 4Runner panels need drilling and riv-nuts, and the Land Cruiser 250 set needs drilling too. If you’re also putting a tent on that roof, our rooftop tents for the 4Runner guide covers the roof side of the same build.
2. DV8 Offroad Rear Window MOLLE Panels — Best for Jeep Wrangler JL and Ford Bronco
DV8 Offroad Rear Window MOLLE Panels (Wrangler JL / Bronco)
- Driver and passenger panels shaped around the rear roll bars; DV8 says they can stay in place while the hardtop goes on and off.
- The JL pocketed version ($289.99) is 3 mm steel with M6 (1/4 in) slots for carriage bolts and mounts gear on both sides; it uses the factory hardtop hardware.
- Not compatible with soft tops, 2-door JLs or the Sky One-Touch top, per DV8. The Bronco 4-door set is $269.99 ($289.99 pocketed); 2-door Bronco owners need the separate $299.99 pocketed set.
- Same family also fits the 2010-2024 4Runner ($319.99, with rock light mounts), 2025-2026 4Runner ($269.99) and Land Cruiser 250 / GX 550 ($279.99, minor drilling). One-year limited warranty, 20% restocking fee.
DV8 is the Jeep and Bronco specialist in this group, and its rear-window panels solve the problem a Wrangler or Bronco owner actually has: the hardtop comes off in summer, and the storage shouldn’t have to come out with it. DV8 shapes these around the rear roll bars, so they stay put either way, and the bolt-on install uses existing hardware.
Read the compatibility notes before ordering. The JL panels don’t work with soft tops, 2-door models or the Sky One-Touch roof, and DV8’s 2025-2026 4Runner panels carry an airbag warning if the third row is used for seating. If you’re building a Jeep for camping, our Jeep rooftop tent and Bronco rooftop tent guides cover the roof half of the rig.
3. Grey Man Tactical 15.25 x 25 RMP Seat Back Organizer — Best No-Drill Universal Panel
Grey Man Tactical Vehicle Seat Back Organizer, 15.25 x 25 RMP
- Rigid 0.188 in glass-filled nylon panel that straps to the seat back; Grey Man says installation and removal take under 60 seconds with no drilling or tools.
- Fits any seat back at least 15.25 in wide and 25 in tall; D-ring headrest straps need a removable headrest, and a 24 in loop strap goes around any headrest.
- 1 in slots for webbing, 0.25 in screw holes on the edges and 0.563 in corner holes for push-button QD swivel straps; lockable with a cable lock around the seat base.
- Same size in powder-coated 3/16 in aluminum (RMPX) costs $260 and weighs 44.8 oz. Smaller 12.25 x 21 organizer: $105 with straps. 30-day full-refund returns; free shipping over $250 in the contiguous US.
Grey Man Tactical makes panels for gun safes, backpacks and cases as well as vehicles, and its seat-back organizer is the easiest MOLLE upgrade on this list. Nothing gets drilled, it moves between vehicles, and it’s the one option that works in a rental, a leased truck or a car you’ll sell next year. The rigid panel is the point: Grey Man designed it so pouches don’t sag the way they do on fabric seat-back organizers.
Two buying notes. The nylon panel is the better value for pouches and a first aid kit: the aluminum RMPX version adds only 10.3 oz but costs $155 more, which makes sense for hard-mounting tools or rifle racks with Grey Man’s backer plates. And measure first: the 15.25 x 25 size needs a seat back at least that big, so smaller cars should look at the 12.25 x 21 panel.
4. DV8 Offroad Universal MOLLE Panels — Best Budget Universal Panel
DV8 Offroad Universal MOLLE Panels
- Six sizes: pair of 7 x 2.5 in $39.99, 11 x 3 in $39.99, 11 x 6 in $49.99, 15 x 12 in $69.99, 27 x 12 in $99.99 and 23 x 15 in $99.99.
- 3 mm steel with 1.5 x 1 in MOLLE cut-outs and evenly spaced 1/4 in mounting holes, in micro-texture black powder coat.
- Spacers included to stand the panel off the mounting surface so straps can pass behind it; paintable aluminum logo backing plate.
- DV8 sells a $49.99 roof mount that holds the 15 x 12 in panel in a 2018-2026 Wrangler JL.
When there’s no vehicle-specific panel for your truck, or you want MOLLE in a garage or a trailer, DV8’s universal steel panels are the cheapest route on this list. A 15 x 12 inch panel at $69.99 holds a first aid kit, a radio pouch and a flashlight, and the included spacers solve a problem a flat panel bolted to a wall always has: there’s no room behind it for MOLLE straps to weave through.
The catch is the install. These need drilling, so they’re best for a bed rack, a drawer system, a trailer wall or a workshop. If you want to avoid holes in the vehicle itself, Grey Man’s strap-on panel or a vehicle-specific kit is the better match.
5. Cali Raised LED Universal MOLLE Panel — Best Aluminum Universal Panel
Cali Raised LED Universal MOLLE Panel
- 3/16 in aluminum with two MOLLE slot sizes and 0.28 in slotted mounting holes.
- Built-in mounting locations for RotopaX fuel and water packs: three or one, depending on the size you choose.
- Cali Raised recommends its MOLLE Accessory Nuts ($21.24 on sale, $24.99 list) for bolting gear to the panel.
- Two-year warranty on Cali Raised-branded products; 30-day returns with a 15% restocking fee on non-defective items.
Cali Raised’s universal panel is the aluminum alternative to DV8’s steel one, and it’s aimed at outside use: on a bed rack, a roof rack or a trailer, where a RotopaX can or a shovel is the main load. Aluminum won’t rust where the powder coat chips, which matters on a panel that lives in the weather. Cali Raised also sells rack-specific MOLLE panels for Sherpa ($118.99), Prinsu and Victory 4x4 racks ($110.49 each) at the same sale discount.
Prices here include Cali Raised’s 15% “Black November” discount on its own brand, so expect the list prices ($89.99 and $109.99) after the sale. For the fuel side of the setup, our jerry can guide covers RotopaX and the mounting rules for fuel containers.
6. Cali Raised LED Side Bed MOLLE System — Best Truck-Bed Panels
Cali Raised LED Side Bed MOLLE System (2024+ Tacoma / 2022+ Tundra)
- Laser-cut, bent bed-wall panels for the 2024+ Tacoma (short and long beds) and the 2022+ Tundra (CrewMax only), sold per side or as a pair.
- Powder-coated in black semi-gloss mini texture; works with MOLLE bags and Quick Fist clamps, with Hi-Lift mounting hardware kits available.
- Matching front bed panel: $237.99 for the 2024+ Tacoma (list $279.99). For 2005-2023 Tacomas, Cali Raised's Bed MOLLE System runs $93.49 to $271.14.
- Alternative: Rago's 2024+ Tacoma Bed Side MOLLE Panels are $199.99 per side (steel, some drilling) and keep the OEM tie-downs, bed lights and storage compartments working, per Rago.
Bed-wall panels are the truck owner’s version of rear-window panels: they use the vertical space above the wheel wells for a shovel, a jack, a fluid can or a recovery bag, and leave the bed floor open for a fridge or a sleeping platform. Cali Raised and Rago both make them for the current Tacoma, and the choice comes down to price and finish: Rago’s $199.99 steel panels are cheaper per side, while Cali Raised’s sale price ($212.49) comes with a two-year warranty instead of one.
For the 2022+ Tundra the gap is bigger: Rago’s bed side panel for the 5.5 ft bed is $289.99 per side, against Cali Raised’s $212.49 on sale. If your bed also needs a way to stop loose cargo sliding, our truck bed organizer guide covers bars, boxes and swing cases that work alongside panels, and our Hi-Lift jack guide covers the jack most of these panels are built to carry.
7. Bartact MOLLE Seat Back Panel Pouch System — Best Soft Panel
Bartact MOLLE Seat Back Panel Pouch System
- A fabric seat-back panel with PALS/MOLLE webbing and two zippered pockets; Bartact says it's made in its US facility.
- Jeep owners can add Bartact's Tailgate MOLLE Panel Kit with Pouches for the 2018-2023 Wrangler JL/JLU ($89.99).
- Bartact's MOLLE Strips ($27.99 for 5 ft, $44.99 for 10 ft, $74.99 for 20 ft) stick to any carpeted or hook-and-loop area so you can build a panel to any shape.
- Bartact says it pulled more than 40 lb of force on a pouch attached to the strips and they still held.
Bartact is the soft-goods choice: seat covers, visor organizers, roll-bar bags and the seat-back panel that ties them together. A fabric panel won’t carry a shovel, but for a med kit, gloves, a radio and the small stuff, it’s quieter than steel, lighter and cheaper at $69.99. Bartact’s MOLLE Strips are the more unusual product: rolls of PALS webbing on a hook-and-loop backing that you cut to length and lay over carpet, so a cargo wall with no mounting points can still carry MOLLE pouches.
For a real trauma kit on that panel, our vehicle first aid kit guide covers which kits ship with MOLLE backing and which ones are built for serious bleeding, not just cuts.

How much weight can a MOLLE panel hold?
This is the question most listings skip. In the five makers’ catalogs, only three MOLLE panels give a number, and none of the rear-window or seat-back panels above publish one.
| Product | Stated limit | Maker's wording |
|---|---|---|
| Cali Raised 5th Gen 4Runner Exterior Window MOLLE Panel | 25 lb | "Do not add more than 25lbs" |
| Cali Raised 6th Gen 4Runner Exterior Window MOLLE Panel | 25 lb | "Do not add more than 25lbs" |
| DV8 2021-2026 Bronco Tailgate MOLLE Panel | 40 lb | "We recommend 40lbs as a guideline for load capacity" |
| Rago Quick Fist clamp (accessory, not a panel) | About 25 lb per clamp | "Each clamp supports approximately 25 lbs" |
| Bartact MOLLE Strips (fabric) | No rating; maker pull test | Held after "over 40 pounds of force" on one pouch, per Bartact |
A practical rule from those numbers: plan on 25 to 40 lb per panel unless the maker tells you otherwise, spread heavy items across several mounting points, and keep anything that could become a projectile in a crash (a jack, an axe, a full fuel can) bolted or clamped, not hanging from a fabric strap. Exterior window panels deserve the most caution because they hang off a roof rack: Rago says its E-MSP exterior panel uses two RAM Mounts suction cups where most designs use one, and that it takes only 1 or 2 gallon RotopaX packs, not the 4 gallon size.
Steel, aluminum or nylon?
| Material | Examples | Weight data | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steel (3 mm / powder-coated) | DV8 universal and vehicle panels, Rago panels | Not published | Tools, recovery gear, anything bolted on |
| Aluminum (3/16 in, 5052) | Cali Raised universal panel and 4Runner rear hatch panel, Grey Man RMPX | Grey Man RMPX 15.25 x 25: 44.8 oz | Outside mounts, racks, anywhere rust is a concern |
| Glass-filled nylon | Grey Man RMP | Grey Man RMP 15.25 x 25: 34.5 oz | Seat backs, pouches, moving between vehicles |
| Fabric and webbing | Bartact seat back panel, MOLLE Strips | Not published | Light pouches, quiet interiors, odd shapes |
Rigid panels beat fabric when pouches need to stay put on washboard roads; fabric beats rigid when the mounting surface is carpet or an odd shape. Whatever you choose, the PALS grid is the same, so pouches move between panels.
How to choose a MOLLE panel
Start with the mounting spot, not the brand. Rear windows, seat backs, the tailgate and the bed walls each have a different best answer. A vehicle-specific panel from Rago, DV8 or Cali Raised fits better and bolts to more points than a universal panel cut to fit.
Check the seating and roof. Skip rear-window panels if anyone rides in a third row beside them (Rago and DV8 both warn about this), and on a Jeep or Bronco confirm hardtop vs soft top and 2-door vs 4-door before ordering.
Decide whether you’ll drill. Rago’s 5th Gen 4Runner set and every strap-on seat-back panel need no holes. Newer-platform kits often need drilling or riv-nuts, and universal steel panels always do.
Match the material to the load. Pouches and a first aid kit don’t need steel. A shovel, a jack or a fuel pack does, and it should be clamped with a proper tool mount: Rago’s Quick Fist pair is $49.95, DV8’s quick-release tool mounts are $59.99 a pair.
Keep the load reasonable. Use 25 to 40 lb per panel as a ceiling unless the maker publishes a higher number, and keep the heaviest gear low.
Know the return terms. Vehicle-specific panels from Rago and DV8 carry a 20% restocking fee on authorized returns, and Cali Raised charges 15%, so confirm the year, trim and seating layout before you buy. If you’re outfitting a rig from scratch, our overlanding gear guide covers the recovery gear, compressor and fridge most panels end up organizing around, and our tire repair kit and camping shovel guides cover two of the most common things people mount on them.
The bottom line
The best MOLLE panel is the one built for your mounting spot. Rago Fabrication’s rear-window panels are the best value for the 4Runner, Land Cruiser 250, Lexus GX and Forester ($259.99 for a 5th Gen 4Runner pair with no drilling), and DV8 Offroad’s bolt-on panels are the pick for a hardtop Jeep Wrangler JL ($289.99) or Ford Bronco ($269.99). For any vehicle, the Grey Man Tactical 15.25 x 25 RMP ($150 with straps) is the no-tools seat-back panel, DV8’s universal steel panels ($39.99 to $99.99) are the budget build-your-own option, and Cali Raised’s 3/16 in aluminum panel ($76.49 on sale) suits racks and RotopaX setups. Truck owners should look at Cali Raised’s or Rago’s bed-wall panels, and the Bartact seat-back panel ($69.99) covers light pouches for the least money. Whatever you buy, keep each panel’s load to 25 to 40 lb unless the maker publishes more, and skip rear-window panels next to an occupied third row.
